My Vim profile
Almost every aspect of the Vim text editor can be customized using its scripting language and because of this it’s customary for Vim users to have a profile directory where Vim looks for additional and/or customized runtime files. On UNIX this directory is ~/.vim
while on Windows it’s %USERPROFILE%\vimfiles
. Below you can find a selection of scripts from my Vim profile, including all of the plug-ins I’ve published. In case you’re interested, the files below have been prepared for the web using my publish.vim plug-in.
- vimrc — My Vim initialization script.
- plugin/ — This directory contains Vim plug-ins. These are generally small scripts that define a few mappings and commands which in turn call autoload functions (see the directory below this one). In this way the plug-ins load quickly and most of the code (in autoload scripts) is never loaded until a plug-in is actually used.
- autoload/ — This directory contains most of the actual Vim plug-in code I write. These scripts aren’t loaded until the contained functions are invoked (lazy loading).
